FISTFUL OF DIEMONDS.

DIEMONDS make raunchy, fist-clenching/fist-pumping anthems made for crushing Budweisers, popping quaaludes and throwing your chick on the back of your Harley to head for the Sunset Strip. Hey there, remember when rock n' roll sounded like it had a set of balls?

Loud? check.
Rude? check.
Aggressive? check.
Stillettos? check.

Denim? check.
Leather? check.

Did I happen to mention they have a mega-babe frontwoman on vox?

From here it looks like whiskey-fueled jet planes for these lads/ladies...

.

DIEMONDS have an EP out, "In the Rough", and even though i've yet to find it on tape/cassette, you can grab it here and here. They're currently on a Canadian tour, but I keep telling them they need to get to L.A. and rock some shows with the greatest band in the land, Steel Panther.

TNUC THEME pt. II

Photobucket

THEY COMMITTED
THE MOST DANGEROUS
CRIME.

THEY FELL IN LOVE.

A little while back TNUC THEME pt. 1 surfaced and was the first of many chapters we're slowly unfolding here at UNCLE T. Today, TNUC is on the brink of a ravenous warpath. But before we set out to dodge swooping eagles and break young hearts, some inspiration will be needed. It's time to call upon the man behind the synth-crusher "Steal the Night", Mr. Paul Hertzog. You might remember that track from the Jean-Claude Van Damme flick, Bloodsport. And no, it wasn't the song that plays during the notorious Van Damme naked butt scene. It was featured in the film when Van Damme is running through the streets of 1988 Hong Kong ("Steal the Night" was also brought to life a little while ago from the Valerie collective, so head on over there if you're looking for that track).

But today's inspiration draws from Bloodsport's evil twin, KICKBOXER. This film brings another superb score courtesy of Paul Hertzog. I'm not going to go into specifics, but there are certain elements about this track that truly constitute it as TNUC THEME pt. II. Have a listen and figure it out yourself. This merciless piece has been chosen to prepare you for the harsh and vigorous training you'll have to endure when you enter the sweaty jungles and misty mountains of CAMP TNUC.

\\ BONUS! //

OK, fine. By popular demand, here's the aforementioned Van Damme naked butt scene. Why post this? Why be gay? The way I see it, only back in 1988 does a scene like this get a pass. These days, if someone like Matthew McConnahay pulled something like this on screen, I'd probably start throwing tomatoes and heads of cabbage at the T.V. Pay attention to the look on the girl's face. It isn't every day you wake up to find Jean-Claude walking around your apartment in a burgundy speedo. What a Sunday surprise!

**In all seriousness, both Kickboxer & Bloodsport scores are highly reccommended. These scores are readily available from me, so let me know if you need them in your library.

TECH-NOIR

March 12, 1984. A day for the ages.

It was on this fateful night that infamous Los Angeles disco club TECH-NOIR was forced to close it's doors for good. It all began on a fairly standard night at Tech-Noir. The usual crowd were burning up the dance floor as a sea of fog and neon drenched over the future-disco lovers. If you had any brains or balls, you wouldn't dare miss Thursday nights @ Tech-Noir. Even if that meant getting dropped off at the front by your mom in the family station-wagon, getting there was the goal, by any means necessary. It's true, every one was out that night. Valley girls, punkers, bikers, video vamps, corporate slugs, fiends, breakers, mullets, weekend warriors, rat-tails and even a couple C.H.U.D.'s were seen prowling the dance floor (if you don't know about C.H.U.D.'s, drop a comment and I'll clue you in). The predicable Thursday night crowd had arrived, well at least up until a menace machine from the future showed up, sent to kill the mother of resistance leader John Connor, to thus prevent the birth of Connor and his future rebellion. What a bummer! This footage is the only thing we could salvage from the fateful night...

Once the club had been trashed from cyborg and friends, Tech-Noir was forced to close its doors.

R.I.P.

We can't end this post like that. Tech-Noir shouldn't be a memory, it should be a lifestyle. It's time we bring this club back to Los Angeles! If you miss the massive TECH-NOIR blinking sign and the smell of aquanet that made this club what it was in 1984, join TNUC in supporting this worthy cause!

Here's a crucial cut that can be heard pulsating through the young crowd at Tech-Noir if we can generate enough supporters to re-open it's doors. Sit back, close your eyes and feel the future.

NIGHT OF HEROES.

Here at Uncle T, we're out to bring you nothing but the best. We all know about the countless blogs that post meaningless features on musical acts that just aren't full of the excellence that they promise. I mean who wants Mississippi Meth when they can have Colombian Class-A?

I remember when TNUC lost the title for #1 drug cartel in 1990. Up until that year, we reigned supreme and were a force to be reckoned with. Back then, on a given day you could find TNUC sporting the slickest pair of white slacks, sailing yachts to Bogota and wearing loafers with no socks. But then came the last day of 1989. TNUC crumbled and his whereabouts were unknown for over a decade. But we're fucking BACK, and we've been prowling the globe for music that has feeling, atmospheric vibes and energy. That's why today we're bringing L.A. based artists Night of Heroes to the masses. The first time I heard these guys, I instantly thought of the movie The Legend of Billie Jean. I can hear it playing during the epic closing of the film.

As you dip into this track, take note that their music is recorded in real time with vintage synthesizers. The drums aren't from standard loop programs and were specially modified. Exclusively on TNUC, here is "Nothing to Lose".
